Job Title: Rigger – Structural Steel / Industrial Rigging

Pay Rate: $28 per hour
Per Diem: $115 per day
Schedule: 55–60 hours per week
Job Overview:
We are seeking experienced Riggers to join our team in Abilene, TX. This position involves rigging and guiding structural steel and heavy materials during steel erection and pre-engineered metal building installation.
Qualified candidates must have strong knowledge of rigging procedures, load control, and crane signaling while maintaining a safe and efficient jobsite. The ability to read blueprints, understand lift plans, and safely handle heavy loads is essential.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect rigging equipment including slings, shackles, hooks, cables, and chains before use
- Select appropriate rigging gear based on load weight, size, and lifting requirements
- Attach loads to cranes or lifting devices using proper rigging techniques
- Signal crane operators during lifts to ensure safe movement and placement of materials
- Guide steel beams, columns, and heavy equipment into position during lifts
- Assemble rigging equipment such as pulleys, cables, spreader bars, and hoisting gear
- Control loads using tag lines to ensure stability and proper positioning
- Assist with positioning and securing structural steel during installation
- Maintain proper communication with crane operators and crew members during lifts
- Follow all company safety policies and rigging procedures
- Maintain organized rigging equipment and ensure proper storage and maintenance
- Assist with additional jobsite duties as assigned
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- NCCER Rigger Certification required
- 3+ years of industrial or structural steel rigging experience preferred
Experience Required With:
- Structural steel rigging
- Crane signaling and load guidance
- Hoisting equipment and rigging gear
- Pre-engineered metal building projects
- Tag line control and load stabilization
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong knowledge of rigging hardware and lifting procedures
- Ability to calculate load weights and determine proper rigging methods
- Knowledge of safety procedures related to lifting and hoisting operations
- Ability to read lift plans, blueprints, and jobsite layouts
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Certifications & Screening:
- NCCER Rigger Certification required
- OSHA 10 Construction Industry certification required (current within the last 5 years)
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screening
